Randolph Pub Ludique – Montréal Canada

Randolph Pub Ludique

Two floors; full of fun

Literally translated to the playful pub, this spot could not be more aptly named. We can’t take credit for finding this spot, we were lead here by our travel companions from Ottawa who had caught wind of it before arriving in Montréal. It didn’t take much to convince us – we were interested when they said there were games and completely sold when we heard it was a pub.  Continue reading

Paloma Negra – Edgewater, NJ

PalomaNegra1

A festive interior usually means a party inside

This is another one of our local go-to spots – when we are craving margaritas and amazing tacos (let’s face it, that’s an undying craving), the “black dove” is always near the top of our list here in north Jersey. Continue reading

Brasserie t – Montréal, Canada

Brasserie t

It’s exactly what it looks like – this restaurant is built in the middle of the sidewalk with windows on either side – très unique!

This spot was not part of our original agenda in Montréal… well, we didn’t really have an agenda to begin with, but in any case we are happy that we stumbled (quite literally) upon this spot. This restaurant was recommended to us by the friend we made at Benelux Brewpub. Luckily it was down-hill. Continue reading

O’burger Le Resto – Downtown Montréal, Canada

O'burger Montreal

We assume they are known for their burgers, but we were here on a mission!

We didn’t have a very strict agenda when we visited Montréal. In fact, we had a very simple plan; get drunk and eat great food. But if we did have some semblance of a goal, it was to try one of the nation’s most notable dishes. Poutine (pronounced poo-tan) is a dish that originated in Québec and is common fare up north. Poutine purists would argue that the dish should strictly consist of french fries (medium cut), cheese curds and brown gravy. Continue reading

Benelux Brewpub and Café – Downtown Montréal, Canada

Benelux - Montreal

Benelux in Downtown Montreal

This place is a trendy brewery that is close to many hotels and not far from a metro station so it is very accessible no matter where you stay in Montreal. It’s kinda dark inside, so if you head here for a drunken hookup, you can pound some craft beers and not have to worry about whatever monstrosity you end up sucking face with. Worst case, they have posters with naked chicks advertising their beer, so you can’t really go wrong.  Continue reading

Dieu de Ciel – Mile-End Montréal, Canada

You can’t tell, but the guy in the window was posing for this picture

Forgive us for being political here, but we are very passionate about some things; DON’T UNDERESTIMATE CANADIAN BEER! Sorry, we had to get that out. In the states, the most famous Canadian beers are Molson (owned by Coors) and Labatt Blue (owned by Anheuser-Busch) – yawn. Don’t get us wrong, we love all beer, but we have a deep appreciation for local, unique craft brews that is undying and results in a never-ending search to try, well, all of it. Continue reading

Deep Ellum Brewery – Dallas, Texas

Deep Ellum Brewing Co.

Deep Ellum Brewing Co.

Word of mouth and creative cartoon can labels guided us to this craft brewery in the nefarious neighborhood of Deep Ellum in Dallas. Their taproom is newly opened, but flowing craft suds at the rate of a veteran watering hole.

We were greeted immediately and opted, of course, for a pair of flights so that we could sample 8 of their 15 varieties of brews. Their reputation is anchored by their flavorful stouts as well as their Dallas Blonde; which happened to be C’s favorite Continue reading
